SUGGESTED PROGRAM FOR 2010

DAY 1 :  [L,D]

At 07.00 this morning you will be collected from your accommodation for a 6 day tour through the Kimberley region via the Gibb River Road.
Travel to Windjana Gorge. Windjana Gorge is a National Park, regarded by geologists as one of the classic examples of world geology. The gorge is a picturesque, narrow canyon cut by the Lennard River through the Napier Range, which was once a coral reef. Trees in the gorge are mostly cadjeputs ( tropical paperbarks ) and river gums. Also common are native figs and fresh water mangrove.

Depart and travel to Bell Gorge.

Dinner tonight will be cooked on the BBQ or over an open fire.

Overnight : Camp - Bell Gorge / Silent Grove (Tents and stretcher beds)


DAY 2  :  [B,L,D]

This morning is spent exploring Bell Gorge, ( off Silent Gorge Station ).  Bell Gorge, situated in King Leopold Range National Park, is known as one of the most spectacular gorges in the whole of the Kimberley. A 45 minute walk into Bell Gorge is well worth it.

Lunch will be served en route today.

Continue west along the Gibb River Road to Mornington Wilderness Camp. Mornington Wilderness Camp is owned and operated by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy. A naturalist’s paradise, Mornington Wildlife Sanctuary covers 312,000 hectares of the Central Kimberley. It protects a range of ecosystems including tropical savannah and open woodlands, which are home to a diversity of birds, mammals and reptiles.

Activities include nature walks and bird watching. Mornington Wildlife Sanctuary is home to approximately 180 bird species including species under threat such as the Purple-Crowned Fairy Wren and Gouldian Finch.

DAY 3  :  [B,L,D]

Today we spend the day bird watching and exploring Mornington Wilderness camp.

DAY 4  :  [B,L,D]
 
After breakfast continue travelling along the Gibb River Road to Galvins Gorge and down to Manning Gorge.

This morning is spent hiking into and exploring Manning Gorge. Great opportunities for bird watching, photography and safe swimming.

Overnight: Mt Elizabeth Station (Accommodation)


DAY 5  :  [B,L,D]

This morning we take a guided tour of Mt Elizabeth Station.

After lunch travel to El Questro Station.

Overnight: El Questro Station / Emma Gorge Resort


DAY 6  :  [B,L]

After breakfast we travel to Zebedee Springs.  Zebedee Springs are small thermal pools situated in a pocket of lush and tropical Livistonia and Pandanus Palms.

Depart and travel into Kununurra for flight to Broome.
